Chinese envoy snubs Indian journalist when asked about incorrect map
New Delhi, Nov 3 (ANI): Chinese Ambassador to India, Zhang Yan, today got into a spat with an Indian journalist and asked him to shut up when the later asked him about the map of a Chinese company showing Arunachal Pradesh as part of the Chinese territory.
According to reports, a state-owned Chinese company TBEA distributed the map of India minus some parts of Kashmir and Arunachal Pradesh at a business function.
The Chinese envoy, who yelled at the journalist saying 'shut up' later tried to clarify to the agitating scribe and said the issue has already been brought to his notice by Indian officials and the issue was being handled.
"This is a technical issue. We handle these issues. Your Joint Secretary has mentioned and I have said that we will look into this. I have talked to our people. So what can I do for you," he said.
The Chinese envoy asking the Indian journalist to 'shut up' had triggered much outrage in the media here.
The incident took place at a hotel in Delhi, where a business delegation from China and the Ambassador were sharing information about investments in India by Chinese companies.
The Governor of China's Xinjiang province and senior officials from the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) were also present at the event apart from the Chinese envoy. (ANI)
