Dharamsala, Oct 3 (IANS) The 10-day International Buddhist Film Festival will be held in Mexico from Oct 29, an official statement of the Tibetan government-in-exile said here Friday.

The festival, organised jointly by the Mexico-based Fundacion Cultural Samaya and the Garuda Tibetan Culture Association, the California-based Buddhist Film Society and the Boston-based Prajnopaya Foundation, will showcase more than 40 films in Mexico City.

The films to be screened include 'Dreaming Lhasa', 'The Cup', 'Himalaya', 'Compassion in Exile', 'The Lion's Roar', 'Karma', 'Milarepa', 'Travellers and Magicians', 'Little Buddha', 'Words of My Perfect Teacher' and 'Reincarnation of Khensur Rinpoche'.

'The special attraction of the fest will be the showcasing of a rare 1925 German/Indian co-production based on Sir Edwin Arnold's 'Light of Asia', which is popularly known as 'Prem Sanyas' (Light of the East). The film is about the story of Prince Siddhartha and how he became Buddha, or enlightened,' added the statement.
