Focus attention on real scamsters, BJP tells Digvijay Singh

New Delhi, Fri, 28 Oct 2011 ANI

New Delhi, Oct 28 (ANI): Commenting on Congress General Secretary Digvijay Singh's latest tweet on the judiciary, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday said it was an attempt to draw attention away from the real scamsters.

Party spokesman Rajiv Pratap Rudy also said the BJP would not like to comment on people calling Al Qaeda mastermind Osama bin Laden 'Osamaji'.

"I would not like comment much on people who call Osama bin Laden as 'Osamaji', and they are talking about justice, and in fact, they are trying to derail justice in India. The statement has come under the scrutiny of judges of the Supreme Court. I think it's a attempt to draw the attention away from the real culprits who are involved in the 2G scam, CWG scam," said Rudy.

"It's a deliberate attempt by individual leaders in the Congress Party, even a minister in the Congress Party, to absolve those who are the real culprits, and the real culprits are at large, which the nation is also witnessing. And, the BJP would not like to comment much on the sentences of an individual who has always been in bizarre as far as statements are concerned," he added.

Digvijay Singh had earlier said the judiciary should be a little liberal about people languishing in jail in spite of not being convicted.

"All over the country, there are hundreds and thousands of poor people, who are undergoing trial, and in spite of the fact that they have not been convicted as yet, they are in jail. So, I think the judiciary should be little liberal of this," said Singh.

Digvijay Singh had posted a tweet on the Indian judiciary, asking it to take a cue from the Rajat Gupta case in the U.S. and grant bail to under-trials.

Good to know Rajat Gupta got bail. Would our judiciary also take a cue and not keep under trials in lock-up once they are charge-sheeted," he tweeted.

Rajat Gupta, an iconic figure in US corporate sector, who was arrested on charges of passing insider information to his billionaire friend Raj Rajaratnam while he was director at Goldman Sachs and Procter and Gamble, was released on Thursday after furnishing a bond of ten million dollars.
