Meenakshi temple of Madurai to come alive in Lucknow

Lucknow, Oct 2 (IANS) This Durga Puja, people of Lucknow will get a chance to visit the Meenakshi temple of Madurai, Tamil Nadu, in the state capital itself.

 

'Naveen Sharadiya Utsav', a Durga Puja committee in Anand Nagar locality of Lucknow, is preparing a wooden replica of the enormous and grand Meenakshi temple.

 

 

'For preparing the massive replica, we have called a large number of artisans and labourers from West Bengal,' general secretary of the committee K.K. Ghoshal told IANS.

 

 

He said: 'We are working round-the-clock as we have to erect the massive replica of the famous Meenakshi temple by Oct 5, which will be followed by Durga Puja celebrations for three days'.

 

 

'The massive replica of Madurai temple will be nearly 70 feet high, 90 feet long and 80 feet wide,' Ghoshal added.

 

 

The Madurai temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, also known as Sundareshvara, and his consort Parvati or Meenakshi.
