Islamabad, Oct 19(ANI): The Pakistan Army has no objection over the government having dialogue with the Taliban, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Ashfaq Pevez Kayani has said.
Briefing the parliamentary defence committees at the General Headquarters, Rawalpindi, Kayani said that he had no intentions of sending the troops to North Waziristan prior to the government's orders, the Dawn reports.
Kayani further said that he had informed the United States that Pakistan did not require any military aid of any kind, and that there would be no compromise on national sovereignty in bilateral ties of the two countries.
He told the committees that the defence budget was decreasing every year due to inflation, and that the Pakistan Army had received only 0.2 billion dollars of agreed six billion dollars from the US.
The COAS further said that the police and civil intelligence agencies were responsible for internal affairs of the country, rather than the army.
"Army is not the solution of every problem," he added. (ANI)
