Lalu accuses Nitish of encouraging communalism by flagging off Advani Yatra

Patna, Tue, 11 Oct 2011 ANI

Patna, Oct 11 (ANI): With Bihar Chief Minister flagging off Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) veteran Lal Krishna Advani's 38-day 'Jan Chetna Yatra' at Sitab Diara village in Chhapra, Rashriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav today accused Nitish Kumar of acting as a catalyst in influencing the state towards the communal forces.

"Nitish Kumar is acting as a catalyst in influencing Bihar towards the communal forces. He is doing so to fulfill his leadership ambition and greediness. This will not work, their double-faced nature has come to light," Yadav told mediapersons at his residence here.

Lalu Prasad Yadav said that by flagging off Advani's 'yatra', Nitish Kumar has betrayed Jayaprakash Narayan.

"Nitish Kumar has insulted the land of JP (Lok Nayak Jayaprakash Narayan). They had betrayed Jayaprakash ji. You were children at that time or may not have born at that time; I myself am a witness to it. They forcefully cancelled many functions of Jayaprakash Narayan ji. We were sent to jail; they all pleaded to the police and then we were able to come out of the jail," said Yadav.

"Advani and Nitish Kumar are not of the stature of Jayaprakash ji. Jayaprakash ji was secular, was pro-poor. Jayaprakashji explained the meaning of total revolution. He had said that his revolution was to bring the backbencher society to the mainstream by providing education, medical facilities, food and jobs," he added.

Targeting Lal Krishna Advani, he further said the BJP is always anti-Muslim.

"BJP says that Muslims should be killed, Muslims should be destroyed and perished. Everybody says that each Muslim is Pakistani and with the same ideology, he (Lal Krishna Advani) has come here and Nitish Kumar is welcoming him," Yadav added.

Advani's much-hyped journey to take on the UPA Government on the corruption issue and press for return of black money stashed away abroad is going to encompass 23 states, four Union Territories, which will include 100 districts and 7600 kilometres.

The yatra will see Advani boarding 14 special aircraft and six helicopters. He has to visit a total of 46 places across the country. The 38-day long yatra will conclude in Delhi on November 20 in the form of a massive rally.

However, many political parties have claimed that Advani's procession was motivated by the upcoming general elections to be held in 2014.

Advani had organised a similar yatra in the 1990's, to mobilise support towards building a temple dedicated to Lord Rama in Ayodhya.

In 2004, he had taken out another chariot procession to reiterate the demand to build the Lord Rama temple in Ayodhya. (ANI)
