New Delhi, Oct 1 (IANS) The national capital has one more Hindi daily as central India's popular Nai Dunia launched its edition here Wednesday at an impressive function attended by the capital's leading lights.
In a packed ballroom of the Hotel Shangri La here, the media group Nai Dunia also launched a weekly newspaper and a magazine from nine state capitals - Chandigarh, Dehradun, Jaipur, Lucknow, Patna, Bhopal, Ranchi, Mumbai and Raipur.
'The newspaper has also set up an institution of ombudsman, to be headed by a retired judge, to look into readers' complaints on any news report,' Nai Dunia editor-in-chief Alok Mehta said.
Home Minister Shivraj Patil, Minister of State for Communication and IT Jyotiraditya Scindia, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Rajnath Singh, Samajwadi Party president Mulayam Singh Yadav and Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dixit were among the political leaders present on the occasion.
The inaugural function was attended by noted film-maker Gulzar, well-known lyricist Javed Akhtar, classical singer Shubha Mudgal and Magsaysay award winners Sandeep Pandey and Aruna Roy.
Nai Dunia has seven editions in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. Its foray here is likely to hot up the media war in the capital which already has major Hindi newspapers such as the Navbharat Times, Hindustan, Dainik Jagaran and Amar Ujala.
