Lalit's brace in National's win, ONGC held
Walled city favourites Indian National FC, Delhi, put up a spirited show as they rallied to beat Jammu and Kashmir Bank 2-1 riding on the Lalit Rawat’s brace in the league match of the Lt Governor's DDA Invitational Football Tournament played at the Ambedkar Stadium here on Friday.
Bilal Ahman put J&K Bank ahead early in the first half and they maintained their one-goal lead till half-time.
On resumption, National players got their act together and started exerting pressure in the rival citadel with some fine attacking moves. J&K Bank lost their momentum with the sudden onslaught from the rival team.
Lalit Rawat restored parity midway through the second half and also scored the winner in the last quarter of the game through penalty.
In the other match of the day, Osian’s New Delhi Heroes came from behind to pull off a draw against ONGC, Mumbai. The first goal of the match came in the five minutes before half time when Sasmal of ONGC made a swift turn and precisely placed the ball at the right corner of the goal.
ND Heroes pulled off the equaliser through Substitute Baba Tunde who scored off a goal-mouth melee in the 68th minute.
