Foreign Secretary Ranjan Mathai to visit Sri Lanka

New Delhi, Oct 5 (ANI): Foreign Secretary Ranjan Mathai will be on a three-day visit to Sri Lanka beginning on Saturday.

 

This would be his first visit to Sri Lanka, since he took over as Foreign Secretary in August 2011.

 

During the three-day visit from October 8 to 10, Mathai is scheduled to call on the Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa. He would also be meeting the Leader of Opposition, Ranil Wickremasinghe, and representatives of the Tamil National Alliance.

 

The Foreign Secretary would hold discussions on bilateral relations, regional and global issues with his Sri Lankan counterpart Karunatillake Amunugama. He will also review developmental projects being taken up in various parts of Northern Sri Lanka under Government of India assistance.

 

Ranjan Mathai would also review the progress made during the meeting of the 4th India-Sri Lanka Joint Working Group (JWG) on Fisheries scheduled on October 7 in Colombo, Sri Lanka. (ANI)
