Ghaziabad, Sep 30 (IANS) The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Tuesday opened an office of its anti-corruption unit here in Uttar Pradesh.
CBI Joint Director Alok Pateria said that as Ghaziabad was strategically located in the National Capital Region (NCR), its importance had increased manifold. It had also led rackets and scams.
An unit under the Dehradun branch was created in Ghaziabad in January 2001 with jurisdiction over 17 districts of western Uttar Pradesh. The unit has now been upgraded to a full-fledged anti-corruption branch.
The branch has jurisdictional area over 20 districts of western Uttar Pradesh.
