Republicans support jobs creation, too: Poll

Washington, Wed, 21 Sep 2011 ANI

Washington, Sept 21 (ANI): Republicans and Republican leaners support the provisions within the American Jobs Act, a poll has found.

The Plum Line quoted the Gallup poll as saying that the supported the provisions even though the question mentioned President Barack Obama's name.

Fifty-six percent of Republicans and GOP leaners support providing additional funds to hire public employees, while 53 percent of them supported increasing taxes on corporations by eliminating some deductions (which GOP leaders have derided as "class warfare").

Fifty percent of Republicans and GOP leaners support providing additional funds for public works projects, including school repair, while 84 percent of Republicans and GOP leaners support providing tax cuts for small businesses, including hiring incentives.

Reupblicans do oppose extending unemployment insurance and raising taxes on wealthy individuals. They extended their support to the tax cuts.

But the spending proposals, and the elimination of corporate loopholes, have Republican support, too. As Gallup put it: "at least half of Republicans favor four of the six proposals tested." (ANI)
