Islamabad, Sept 21(ANI): The Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) has sought one week's time from the judicial commission probing journalist Saleem Shahzad's murder, in order to submit a reply on the matter.
Shahzad's body- bearing signs of torture- was found from a canal in Mandi Bahauddin on May 31, two days after he was abducted in Islamabad.he slain journalist's colleagues have accused the ISI, which had reportedly threatened Shahzad, of being behind the 40-year-old journalist's abduction and killing, a charge that the agency has called "baseless."
In June, the Chief Justice of Pakistan, Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, appointed ustice Saqib Nisar to head the commission set up to investigate the Saleem Shahzad murder.
Shahzad's widow and brother appeared before the commission and submitted their statements regarding the matter, the Daily Times quoted sources, as saying.
The commission was informed that the password of the Saleem's laptop was still not found.
A number of Pakistani journalists also submitted their statements before the commission.
One of those journalists, Azaz Syed, recommended the commission to summon the high-ups of the ISI regarding the matter, the report said.
The commission was suggested to visit all provinces for meeting with journalists, as they were facing different problems.
The commission adjourned the meeting till September 27. (ANI)
