Imphal, Sep 20 (ANI): Manipur, which has over the years produced many talented persons, has added another feather to its cap through Nabakishore Singh, an eminent doctor.
Winner of many state and national awards, forty-six years old Singh, has formulated a short course in multidrug therapy for malaria by which 100 per cent parasite clearance is done within 45 minutes. It has set a world record.
Apart from this, Nabakishore Singh has done in depth research for cure of diabetes and has shared his ideas with American Diabetes Association. His treatment is based on stimulation of beta cells in pancreas and bioactive insulin from epidermal cells.
Recently he was conferred with the "Indian Achievers" award for Chikitsah Ratna -2011.
"I was surprised to see my name for the Chikitsah Ratna Award. I didn't expect it. Initially I thought that the letter was for some seminar or conference, but once I read it I was happy that I was nominated for the award," said Singh.
Singh came from a poor family but this did not come in his way. He was a brilliant student and excelled in every examination. After completing his MBBS from Regional Institute of Medical Sciences from Manipur, he went on to study abroad and was associated with many well known foreign universities.
A strong urge to contribute something to his state brought him back to Manipur. He started as a doctor at Chandel district and is currently serving in a government hospital at Kakching area of Manipur.
"As a doctor I would like to suggest for the patients and the Doctors that Tele Medicine is the best way to cure. It will help us to get new information and latest knowledge about medicine. We can communicate with one another from far off places and treatment can be done through Tele Medicine," he said.
"I got a lot of relief after being treated under his observation," said Thumno, a patient.
" I brought my mother in law here for the treatment. She is very relieved. I have come here for the second time and trust his judgement," said Injingam.
Nabakishore Singh has made a significant contribution to the development of the health infrastructure of Manipur. Today he is a source of inspiration to many people. (ANI)
