Bhopal, Sep 15 (ANI): Congress lawmaker Sandeep Dikshit on Thursday clarified that bag filled with ten lakhs in cash that was recovered from his berth in the Bhopal Express belonged to a friend of his who was travelling in a different coach on the same train.
"I categorically deny that I have nothing to do with that money, this money belongs to my friend Mr. Jayesh Mathur (supposed owner of the bag of cash). He and I were travelling from Bhopal to Delhi in the Bhopal Express he was in the A1 coach I was in the AC coach," said Dikshit.
"It is also called companionship that we were coming together therefore Jayesh and I were chatting in the evening and he said that he has some valuables so obviously he said that if I can keep it in the coupe because coupe is safer than any other compartment and we kept it there. In the morning in the rush to get off at the Habibganj station we misplaced it and we forgot to pick it up from our cabin," he added.
Meanwhile, Dikshit's friend and the owner of the bag of cash Jayesh Mathur echoed on similar lines as the Congress lawmaker.
"The bag had a small packet which is mine, I told him (Dikshit) that it contains valuables and I am keeping it here. He said it is fine and I am also in the coupe that is all," said Mathur.
Mathur, who is an architect by profession, expressed his gratitude to the railway staff for finding and returning the money intact.(ANI)
