Islamabad, Sept 14(ANI): A inquiry commission set up by the Pakistan Government for probing the Osama bin Laden debacle has visited the slain al-Qaeda leader's hideout at Bilal Town in Abbottabad.
Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has constituted the commission for investigation into the presence of bin Laden in Abbottabad and the unilateral US operation that killed the world's most wanted terrorist on May 2.
The commission members reached the compound at Bilal Town amid tight security on Tuesday, and the routes leading to it were sealed, The Nation quoted sources, as saying.
In the light of the briefing given by the Pakistan Air Force on September 11, 2011 at the PAF Headquarters, the commission examined various facets of the US helicopters' intrusion into Pakistani territory in the darkness of night on May 2.
During its stay in Abbottabad, the commission would meet with police and different agencies investigating the case and seek updates on the investigation from officials of these institutions, the paper said, attributing to sources.
It further said that district administration officials and local media representatives would record their statements in front of the Abbottabad Commission, which it would also interview the locals and the eyewitnesses in connection with the US raid.

The commission is mandated to ascertain the full facts regarding compound of Osama bin Laden in Pakistan. It will investigate circumstances and facts regarding US operation in Abbottabad on May 2.
The commission shall determine the nature, background and causes of lapses of the concerned authorities, if any, and it shall make consequential recommendations. (ANI)
