Canberra,Sept 12(ANI): Over 60 Brisbane council employees are being probed for unethical behaviour.
The allegations levelled against them include illegal dumping, misusing council equipment to download porn, impersonating a police officer and painting an unauthorized clearway.
According to documents obtained by The Courier-Mail under a Right to Information legislation, Brisbane City Council's ethical standards unit probed over 100 complaints regarding unethical behaviour of employees last year.
Out of those, 65 cases were substantiated and investigation of 11 cases is still underway News.com.au reports.
About 11 cases led to resignation of 11 employees from service, while 25 were let off with a warning and 20 received final warning.
Brisbane Deputy Mayor Adrian Schrinner said he was disappointed that unethical behaviour of a small group has dented the reputation of all council employees.
"Brisbane City Council has more than 9000 employees who provide an outstanding public service, but these actions are unacceptable," he said.
"Council takes a harsh view of code of conduct breaches and that is why a handful of staff have had their employment terminated, others have been given formal warnings and some have resigned," he added. (ANI)
