New Delhi, Sep.10 (ANI): Uttarakhand Chief Minister Ramesh Nishank Pokhriyal was on Saturday replaced by Bhuvan Chandra Khanduri.
Khanduri will be sworn in as the Chief Minister tomorrow at 4p.m.
The decision was taken after senior Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) leaders met at party president Nitin Gadkari's residence here to discuss the fate of Pokhriyal, after he was allegedly accused of corruption and not being able to manage the political crisis in his state.
A grim faced Pokhriyal was here to meet with the central BJP leadership and discuss the prevailing political situation in the state.
Leader of Opposition Sushma Swaraj and senior party leaders Arun Jaitley and Rajnath Singh were also present at the meeting.
The party high command was forced to review the political situation of the state due to the forthcoming state legislative elections, which would be held in the next six months.
Pokhriyal had replaced Khanduri as the state chief after the 2009 federal elections where the BJP lost all the five Lok Sabha seats in the state to its arch rival, the Congress party. (ANI)
