It was a moment of double delight for India shuttlers as Chetan Anand beat fellow national Arvind Bhat to claim the men’s singles title and Jwala Gutta combined with V.Diju wins the mixed doubles event of the Bitburger Open badminton tournament at Saarbruecken in Germany on Sunday.
The fourth seeded Chetan came up closely in the last two games after losing the first one to seventh seeded Bhat and eventually succeed with 23-25, 24-22, 23-21 to mark his maiden singles title in a Grand Prix event.
The three times national champion, Anand, who has been going through a form of high has already won the Czech International title last week beating Englishman Carl Baxter.
Earlier, Anand’s wife Jwala Gutta along with V.Diju won the mixed doubles title whipping the Danish pair Joachim Fischer Nielsen and Christinna Pedersen 8-21, 21-17, 22-20.
The 28-year-old Anand, currently ranked at no 30, has so far made it to eight finals this year.

“It was a great win and the most satisfying moment for me after the Commonwealth bronze medal,” added an enchanted Anand.
