Many claims over Kannada hit's Tamil remake

Chennai, Sep 28 (IANS) Confusion over the ownership of a Kannada film's Tamil remake rights has resulted in a series of complaints being lodged with the Tamil Film Producers' Council (TFPC), sources said Sunday.

While director S.S. Joe complained to the TFPC that producer duo V.A. Dorai and Sathaji were unduly interfering with his 'creative work' of 'Nai Kutty' launched earlier this week, another person R. Siva claimed ownership over it since it is a remake of Kannada hit 'Nanda Loves Nanditha,' top TFPC sources told IANS.

Though the producer duo had billed Joe as the scriptwriter and director of the Tamil venture, he was absent during the inaugural shot and has since then dropped out of sight, media reports said.

The movie's hero Prasanna had openly admitted 'Nanda...' was the original source of 'Nai Kutty' in a media interview.

Citing this in his complaint to TFPC, Siva claimed that the Kannada original's director Vijay Kumar had gifted the rights to him after a stint as assistant director.

'Nanda...', a successful debut of Kannada star Yogesh, is all about mercenary's love affair. Dorai and Sathaji were not available for comment.
