Begin jail bharo andolon in case of police action: Anna

Even when the Government is trying to clear the air that there is no end of talk with the Team Anna, a late night message from Anna and his team stunned many when it is said that government might forcibly take Anna away from the Ramlila Maidan.

Speaking in front of the large gathering in Ramlila ground here in the national capital, the Gandhian activist requested all his supporters not to stop the police if they came for him. He also appealed all not to indulge in violence in case of police any action.

While asking his followers to only adopt non-violence path, Anna Hazare advised all to begin “jail bharo andolon” if the police came and forcibly take him away from Ramlila Maidan.

The late night development has certainly brought the discussion between the civil society and the government “back to square one”, as termed by Anna's associates.

Just before Anna addressed the gathering, Team Anna member Arvind Kejriwal said that they had information that police would come to pick Anna Hazare late in the night or early morning. Activist Kiran Bedi also claimed that she had reliable information that Anna may be removed forcibly.

Earlier in the evening, another round of talk between the government and Team Anna members ended without any consensus even though they both had agreed to talk further tomorrow morning.

Government’s tough stand persists when it out-rightly rejected any possibility of scraping the Lokpal Bill in entirety and passing the Jan Lokpal Bill in a deadline as given by the civil society members. The fruitless talk with government has been termed by Team Anna as “back to squre one”.

Anna’s Team wants the Jan Lokpal Bill to be introduced in parliament in the next four days. However, the government is not ready to take this as the sole draft for the anti-corruption act to come. It wants a new bill to be drafted in which the some of the key features of Jan Lokpal Bill can be included with due consideration.

Meanwhile, it has also been reported in various sections of media, and also as informed by Kiran Bedi, that Anna will not be forcibly removed from the present Ramlila ground podium till the doctors declare that his condition is critical.
