AIFF announces players for National camp

The All India Football Federation (AIFF) has announced the list of 24 players to attend the National Football camp, in preparation for the upcoming SAFF and AFC Challenge Cup, to be held in Goa from April 5.

The SAFF Cup will be played in Sri Lanka in the month of June, while AFC Challenge Cup will be held either in Delhi or Hyderabadi later in August

Meanwhile, there is also a special Pre-National camp for 21 junior footballers of the country so that they can be groomed to make it to the bigger stage. The camp will start in Goa from March 26 ten days prior to the main camp.

There could be a possibility that AIFF might add few more names to the final list from the pre-camp players for the April camp.

The list of 24 players announced for the national camp consists four strikers, two goalkeepers, nine defenders and midfielders each. Injured veteran defender Deepak Mondal also made the cut in the list after having an injury in the Nehru Cup last year.

Defenders: Mahesh Gawli and Samir Naik (Dem), N.S.Manju and Deepak Mondal (MB), Surkumar Singh, Debabrata Roy and Syed Rahim Nabi (EB), Gouramangi Singh (CB) and Anwar (JCT)

Midfielders: Steven Dias, Krishnan Ajayan Nair and N.P.Pradeep (MU), Climax Lawrence, Clifford Miranda and Anthony Pereira (Dem), Mehrajuddin Wadoo (EB), Renedy Singh (JCT) and Bungo Singh (Pune FC)

Midfielders: Rochus Lamare (Salga), Kuttimani (Mumbai FC), Reisangmi Vashum and Chitrasen (CB), S.James Singh (Viva), Baldip Singh (JCT)

Forwards: Thoi Singh, Sushil Kumar and Tarif Ahmed (MU), and C.S.Sabeet (Karnataka)
