Indians use drums, skates and rituals to support Hazare

Pune/Udaipur/Gaya, Aug 22 (ANI): Indians carried out unique demonstrations across the country in support of veteran social activist Anna Hazare's crusade against corruption.

While there have been supporters copying the hairstyle of Hazare, others have been more typical by donning Gandhian caps reading 'I am Anna'

One of the many unique demonstrations came through when several drum players and percussionists gathered in Pune to play resounding beats for the government of India to wake up it from deep "slumber".

"We all drum players have gathered here today because this government is not reacting even after five days of fast. The federal government has become like a sleeping demon and drums are being played to wake it up. Peaceful protests are on; we are trying to add sound to it to awake the government," said percussionist Rohan Mankandi.

While the word corruption may only come in an adults' dictionary, tiny tots in Udaipur still skated their way through in support for Hazare in his anti-graft movement.

"I am in the fight with Anna Hazare, he will fight and I will be there to support him," said seven- year- old Gautam.

The skating rally by young children gave hope to onlookers that a strong effective anti-graft bill was on its way.

"The way these children are skating on the roads in support of Anna Hazare, I believe India would be able to root out corruption. I think Jan Lokpal bill would become reality with children to the old all coming together for it," said onlooker Aditya Singh.

Meanwhile, around 50 youths in Bihar's Gaya district carried out their demonstration through 'Pind Daan', a ritual performed for the salvation of ancestors' souls, implying the soul of India getting rid of the evil of corruption.

"The world is suffering because of corruption; I am feeling very good by carrying out pind daan to get rid of corruption. People do it for deceased's soul to rest in peace; we are doing it for India to live freely from corruption," said youth Shankar Prasad. (ANI)
