Pak hands over illegal migrant to Indian Army

Chakan da Bagh (J-K), Aug.12 (ANI): In a goodwill gesture, Pakistan Army has handed over a woman,Parveen Akhtar, to the Indian Army.

The repatriation took place at the Chakan-Da-Bagh border post in Poonch district on Thursday.

A resident of Gunterian village, Akhtar had crossed the Line of Control (LoC) on July 30 after having a heated argument with her mother-in-law and other relatives.

She was detained by the Pakistan Army at the Majahar Camp before being handed over to her uncle Nazam Din.

Speaking in her defence, Nazam Din, said his niece crossed the border that divides the two countries following a family dispute and not for political reasons.

Thanking the Pakistan Army for letting her return home, he said Akhtar had been lucky that she could meet him and was allowed to return to India within twelve days.

Akhtar confirmed that she had been given a warm send off by her relations in Pakistan- administered Kashmir.

"I just want to urge the (Indian and Pakistan) governments that more border posts should be opened so that people can happily meet each other," said Akhtar.

Pakistan Army captain Zia said efforts are being taken to ensure peace in both countries.

Kashmir is divided between India and Pakistan, both of which claim the region in full. They have fought two of their three wars over the region. (ANI)
