The Udupi-Chikmagalur MP D V Sadananda Gowda is set to take oath of new Chief Minister of Karnataka on Thursday evening. He will take the seat of ousted Chief Minister of Karnataka B S Yeddyurappa, who had resigned from his post on Sunday (31 July).
D V Sadanand is Yeddyurappa's candidate, which he had announced after handing over his resignation to Karnataka Governor Hansraj Bhardwaj on Sunday. It is assumed that Sadanand Gowda government might be a puppet government, however, Gowda himself has denied to this assumption quoting, 'I won't be a puppet CM.'
Sadanand has defeated lingayat leader Jagdish Shettar in a fierce competition through secret ballot polling held on Bhartiya Janta Party's state head quarter in Bangalore.
Jagdish Shettar was backed by state unit president K.S. Eshwarappa and former cabinet minister in centre in NDA government Anant Kumar.
After winning the poll, it was decided that D V Sadanand would take oath of the new CM of Karnatka on Thursday at 04:30 p.m..
Today morning Gowda went to Shettar residence for inviting him in the oath ceremony and asking his support to his government. Jagdish Shettar has assured Gowda to provide full support to his government.
