Gadkari flays Congress party for being inefficient in curbing corruption

New Delhi, Tue, 02 Aug 2011 ANI

New Delhi, Aug 2 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief Nitin Gadkari has flayed the Congress party for being inefficient in eradicating corruption from the system and punishing accused lawmakers in various scams.

Addressing a monthly meeting of the party, Gadkari said Congress President Sonia Gandhi talking on fight against corruption was in similar lines of Pakistan pledging to stop militant activities active in its country.

"Sonia Gandhi says that we will fight against corruption. We will not spare the culprits. The Congressmen felt angered when I said that as Pakistan says that we will fight against militancy similarly Sonia Gandhi also says that she will fight against corruption," said Gadkari.

Gadkari also sought explanations from Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Home Minister P. Chidambaram, after former Telecom Minister, A. Raja claimed that related to the 2G spectrum deal was signed and approved in the presence of both the ministers.

"When A. Raja has said that all the documents related to the 2G spectrum deal was signed and approved in the presence of P. Chidambaram and Manmohan Singh then I would like to ask a question from Sonia Gandhi and the Congress party that if she wants to fight against corruption then after the statement of Raja what steps would the Congress party take against Manmohan Singh and P. Chidambaram," he added.

Laughing off the comment made by Manmohan Singh saying that he would bring forward all the corruption done by opposition leaders, Gadkari said that BJP was not scared of the challenge, as it was a clean and corruption free party.

"The Prime Minister had said that we would dig out the skeletons of Bharatiya Janata Party. What power does he have? Why are they afraid? The BJP is not a party of cowards. Mr. Prime Minister do whatever you feel like, the Bharatiya Janata party is ready to fight any battle. We are not afraid of any allegation as we are clean," he added. (ANI)
