James 'Darth Vader' Jones to get SAG lifetime achievement award

London, Oct 3 (ANI): Hollywood actor James Earl Jones will soon be honoured with the Screen Actors Guild's lifetime achievement award for his great career accomplishments.

 

The 77-year-old actor is a legend in himself, as being a stutterer till high school he has lent his voice to Darth Vader in Star Wars, for which he was nominated for an Oscar and 7 Emmy awards.

 

"It is our honour to bestow the guild's highest tribute on this extraordinary actor," BBC quoted SAG president Rosenberg, as saying.

 

"The actor's lengthy career commands our admiration and respect," Rosenberg added.

 

Jones has received the US National Medal of Arts in 1992 and ten years later he was made a Kennedy Center honouree.

 

Jones's portrayal of South African priest Stephen Kumalo in Cry, the Beloved Country earned him a Screen Actors Guild best actor nomination, and his work in the 1970 film adaptation of The Great White Hope gave him an Oscar nomination and a Golden Globe award.

 

The 14th annual SAG Awards will take place in L.A. on the 25th of January. (ANI)
