3 killed, 25 trapped in J& K avalanche

The joy and enthusiasm of tourists are transforming into fear and disappointing factor as heavy snowfall and stormy avalanche continues for 5th day in a row on Friday that has became the cause of the death of three persons and nearby 25 people are feared to be trapped in South Kashmir due to chilly windstorm, as per the reports came from Jammu and Kashmir region.

As per media sources, Kashmir valley has not seen too much heavy snowfall in the last two three years as up to 10 feet of snow have been deposited on the main roads of the states. After a long time, the weather of the hill areas became so chilly.

The rescue operation has begun in worst affected areas of the state and three dead bodies in Qazigund area have been found so far, while 15 live people have also been rescued. But more than that are likely to be pitfall in the stormy area.

Doda district has been one among the worst affected areas where the snow sheet has bended out recorded up to 17 feet. Jawahar Tunnel the lifeline of the valley has also been affected badly with having the thick of 10-feet ice-sheet, which has disconnected it from rest of the country.

The Jammu-Srinagar linking highway has been closed since Monday due to heavy snowfall and has been affected badly due to stranding vehicles of essential commodities on this highway. No vehicle has been crossed the high way because of one foot thick snow sheet. The life of rest of the state has also been affected for not getting essential commodities in time.

The air traffic has also been affected from bad weather condition. Only one flight in last four days has been reached to the state capital while no flight could be able to take off from there. The visitors are displeasing because of stranding on the spot and no chances of relief have been forecasting for next few days.

The Met office however has assumed to be getting some relief after Saturday, till then the chances of snowfall and avalanche might be remain.

The state government has ordered to the local administration to be on maximum alert and maximum support to the tourist until they leave the state.

Mumbai, the coastal city has also been shivering for the first time since last six decades with recording 10 degree Celsius of minimum temperature on Wednesday and Thursday, while the northern region of the country has got some relief today as the minimum temperature has been raise up to 2-3 degree. Only Rajasthan is still in the bone-chilling wind area.
