Dimapur, July 29 (ANI): A three day-long second northeast kung Fu championship was recently held in Asaam's Dimapur District to promote Kung Fu in the Northeast region.
Organised by the Nagaland Shaolin Kung-Fu Federation, an affiliate of North East Kung-Fu Federation, the event saw nearly 220 athletes from Assam, Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland and Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC).
There were 63 participants from Manipur, 41 from Assam, 40 from Nagaland, 30 from BTC and 25 from Arunachal Pradesh.
"Participants came from the different states of northeast and we are here with a motive to win through spirit," said Kavi, a participant.
Kung Fu is not only considered a martial art but it has s spiritual element as well. It consists of different styles like Tiger, Dragon, Crane and Snake.
Over the years, the northeast has been marred by insurgent problems that have prevented development.
But with many insurgent groups coming forward for talks, sports frenzy youth are working hard to make their presence felt at the national level. (ANI)
