Rahul sweats it out under the Sun
Kota (Rajasthan), Oct 3 (ANI): Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi put on the garb of a poor labourer, toiling hard under a blazing Sun in Rajasthan, carrying big stones on his shoulders and extending a helping hand to the labourers. And, this all he did on October 2, the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.
Echoing the words of Mahatma Gandhi - "India lives in its villages", Rahul said that there was an urgent need to bridge the rich-poor divide.
"I feel it everyday and every moment that there exist two Indias, the rich and the poor. The rich lives in the metros and the poor in other places.....there is a need to bridge the gap between the two," he said.
Rahul said it was imperative to go to the people if one wanted to know what was really happening. "If you really want to know about the poor, you have to visit them. One cannot understand their problems without going near to them," he said.
After visiting the Chamunda Devi temple in Jodhpur, Rahul came down to Kota and played the role of a poor labourer. At least 224 persons were killed and nearly 100 injured in the stampede, described as the worst ever in recent times in the country. (ANI)
