'Harold and Kumar' star Kal Penn dumps White House job again for TV series

Washington, July 16 (ANI):Indian-origin American film actor and politician Kal Penn is set to wrap up his job with the Obama administration for a role in popular television series How I Met Your Mother.

In that role, he will play a love interest for Robin, played by Cobie Smulders, the Washington Post reports.

Penn, who became famous for 'Harold and Kumar' and 'House,' first joined the White House in July 2009 as an associate director in the Office of Public Engagement.

Penn recently resigned his post to film "A Very Harold and Kumar Christmas," and after an 11 month break he returned to the White House.

The actor has kept a moderately low-profile in Washington, using his birthname Kalpen Modi in his government work and passing up interviews.

He had recently hosted a session at the White House with young business owners promoting a "Buy Young" initiative. (ANI)
