CCTV footage of Mumbai blasts being scrutinised: Home Secretary

New Delhi, July 15 (ANI): Two days after three serial blasts rocked the financial capital of the country, Union Home Secretary R. K. Singh on Friday said 11 CDs of the CCTV footage of the Mumbai blasts are under investigation, and added that the investigators have identified a scooter in which one of the bombs was planted.

"The CCTV footages are being scrutinised. Now, all the faces and all the people who appeared therein, they have to be got recognised by the local people to see whether they are local people or not or whether they are outsiders. So that process is on. It is voluminous. There are about 11 CDs, which have to be gone through," said Singh.

"People who are not recognised by the local people have to be put through a database to see whether they match other people. The suspicious people are being verified. Then various leads, various people are being questioned based on our previous sort of databases and our previous sort of known linkages. You are aware that we also have identified the scooter in which one of the bombs was planted," he added.

At least 18 persons have died and another 134 persons are reported to have been injured. The condition of around 13 persons is reported to be critical.

The three serial blasts rocked Opera House at 6: 54 p.m., Zaveri Bazaar, a popular jewellery market, at 6: 55 p.m., and Kabutar Khana, Dadar at 7: 06 p.m. on July 13. (ANI)
