Patna, July 15 (ANI): A nine-year-old child artist from Bihar's Patna city has registered his name in the Limca Book of Records for playing fourteen 'tablas' simultaneously.
Talanjay Thakur, who started playing seven 'tablas' at the age of four, gradually migrated to handling 14 'tablas' concurrently.
Expressing his delight over achieving this feat, Thakur said that he would like to create more records in the near future.
"I started learning tabla, when I was one and a half year old. I have grown up seeing my father playing tablas. I am nine years old and my name is now registered in the Limca Book of Records," he said.
Talanjay's father Ajay Thakur, who is also a tabla player, talking about his son said that he is a child prodigy, who started playing with his feeding bottle when he was just six months.
"Playing 14 or 24 tablas is a tough job. Playing two tablas is not that easy and our ustad (maestro) and gurus (teacher) are well aware of this fact. Playing fourteen tablas in sync with the other instruments like 'Harmonium' and 'Sarangi' is very difficult," said Ajay Thakur.
He added that in future he would make his son learn to play 18 tablas simultaneously.
Tabla is one of the vital musical instruments of the Indian classical music and is an accompaniment to vocal music. (ANI)
