New Delhi, July 14 (ANI): Rural Development Minister Jairam Ramesh has said that his ministry would reach out to people in Maoists affected districts of the country.
Outlining his priorities, Ramesh also made it clear that transparency and accountability hold the key to the success of any program, and added that it would be his endeavor to ensure that the needy and the poor in these areas are able to access their rights in time.
Commenting on the application of the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (NREGA), he said that focus would be on tackling issues related to delays in payment of wages and to the timely release of funds.
On Wednesday, Ramesh reviewed the progress made under MGNREGA at Krishi Bhawan, a release from his ministry said.
He also took stock of the progress of the BPL and caste census with the officials of the Ministry and the representatives of National Advisory Council.
The BPL and caste census is being undertaken with the help of over six lakh enumerators across the country and filed operations are likely to be over by the year end. (ANI)
