New Delhi, July 12 (ANI): The Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh, on Tuesday said that he hopes today's Cabinet reshuffle to be the last before the 2014 Lok Sabha polls.
Talking about important coalition partner DMK, Dr. Singh said: "We have kept two seats vacant for DMK. We hope their decision will be coming soon."
Dravida Munnettra Kazhagam (DMK) chief M. Karunanidhi earlier today said the reshuffle is not complete yet.
"The reshuffle is not complete yet. I will comment on it after a formal announcement," he told mediapersons in Chennai.
Karunanidhi further said he would take a decision on issues relating to the Centre and ministries in the DMK General Council meeting.
The Prime Minister's Cabinet reshuffle does not introduce any replacements for the two DMK ministers A Raja and Dayanidhi Maran, who have tendered their resignations following charges of corruption.
After the swearing-in-ceremony of the new ministers inducted in the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Cabinet at the Rashtrapati Bhawan here this evening, Dr. Singh said that Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi had also been asked to join the government, but he cited existing responsibilities to decline Cabinet berth.
The Prime Minister earlier in the day dropped seven ministers, inducted V Kishore Chandra Deo and seven other new faces, and elevated three others including Jairam Ramesh from whom Environment and Forests has been taken away. (ANI)
