Chatra (Jharkhand), July 10(ANI): Maoists killed two people in Jharkhand's Chatra district on Sunday after allegedly suspecting the victims of working as 'police informers'.
The bodies, with their throats slit, were found by villagers near the Itkhori sub-district of Chatra.
According to locals, the victims were killed by banned Maoist outfit Peoples' Liberation Front of India (PLFI).
A letter, allegedly written by PLFI ultras, and the murder weapon used in the killings have also been recovered from the crime scene.
As per the letter found near the bodies, the victims were 'eliminated' because of their 'proximity' to a senior police official working in the area.
However, police officials asserted that they were yet to ascertain the motive behind the killings.
"We have found a letter written by the PLFI near the bodies. The locals here have told us that the two victims were members of the Shastra Pratirodh Manch (SPM) faction. However, we have not been able to identify the victims as yet," said C. Baig, in-charge of the police station at Itkhori. (ANI)
