London, July 10 (ANI): British tabloid News of the World editor Colin Myler addressed staff at paper's Wapping headquarters as the last edition was sent to print, and told them that they were the 'most professional people' he had ever worked with.
In his farewell speech, he also said that rumoured plans of journalists from the Sun being drafted in should News of the World workers not show, were "risible," the Telegraph reports.
"It will only be when people go to the newsstands on Sunday morning and see that the News of the World is not there, that they will realize how much they miss the paper," he added.
News International (News of the World's parent company) recently declared that the company had decided to shut down the News of the World after this weekend edition in wake of its alleged involvement in a hacking scandal that triggered an outrage in Britain.
News of the World was Britain's largest selling Sunday newspaper, and had been in circulation for over 165 years. (ANI)
