Former Honduran beauty queen arrested for money laundering

Tegucigalpa, July 8 (ANI): Honduran Police has arrested Miss Honduras 2009 Belgica Su rez on money laundering charges.

Special services police spokesman Alex Madrid said 25-year-old Su rez was arrested as she failed to declare the money equivalent to 47,000 dollars, while crossing the border from Esteli in Nicaragua to enter the Honduras.

According to Honduran law, travellers must declare if they are carrying over 10,000 dollars to the customs department.

Madrid said Su rez was arrested with euros and British pounds on a Honduran highway near the Nicaraguan border, Fox News reports.

"She claimed she had earned the money working as a model in Europe." (ANI)
