Kabul, July 4(ANI): Afghanistan's intelligence agency, the National Directorate of Security (NDS), has said that a Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) commander had sold a suicide bomber to the Haqqani network to attack a local commander.
The NDS said that the bomber, Sher Hassan, was a Pakistani national and was detained by their agents in Jaji Maidan district of Afghanistan's Paktia province before he could carry out his mission.
"The detained man added that a commander under TTP leader Hakimullah Mehsud sells suicide bombers at six to eight million rupees to the Haqqani network for suicide missions," The Express Tribune quoted a NDS statement, as saying.
The TTP is blamed for many suicide bombings across Pakistan, while the Haqqani network, led by Jalaluddin Haqqani, is closely allied with the Taliban and Al-Qaeda, and is the architect of several high-profile attacks in Afghanistan.
The network is also seen as one of the biggest threats to NATO and US forces in Afghanistan. (ANI)
