Lack of coordination among agencies hinders operations: BSF DG
New Delhi, Sep 30 (ANI): Outgoing Director General of BSF A K Mitra today stressed on the need for a centralised force on the line of the US's Homeland Security to deal with terror incidents.
Concerned over lack of coordination among security agencies, he said: "Often, there is not enough cooperation. We (security agencies) are not ready to share information with each other. Lack of coordination among us is always there," Mitra, who retired today as Director General of BSF told reporters here.
Mitra said a centralised agency like US Homeland Security would solve the problem of lack of coordination to a great extent. "Perhaps, we require a centralised agency like US Homeland Security," he said.
Referring to the recent series of explosions, including in Delhi, Mitra said the terror problem has taken a serious dimension in recent times and it is no longer concentrated only in a few border states.
"The manner in which it is going to the hinterland, it shows how serious the problem is. Terror is no longer a problem of a few border states," he said.
The outgoing BSF DG did not rule out the possibility of terrorists entering India through porous borders, particularly along the Indo-Bangla border. (ANI)
