Hamburg, July 3 (ANI): After Andy Murray's debacle at Wimbledon, it was a double disappointment for English fans, as David Haye was soundly defeated by Ukrainian Wladimir Klitschko in the WBA heavyweight title bout in Hamburg, Germany.

The unification super-fight saw 30-year-old Haye putting his WBA heavyweight title on the line in a bid to snatch his Germany-based Ukrainian opponent's IBF, WBO and Ring magazine belts, The Daily Mail reports.

Haye, who used defensive tactics against an aggressive Klitschko lost with a score of 117-109, 118-108 and 116-110.

Haye's pre-fight bluffing also backfired as Klitschko controlled the disappointing heavyweight unification clash.

It was the 14th straight win for Klitschko and improved his record to 17-2 in title fights. He also captured Haye's version of the heavyweight title. (ANI)
