London, June 29(ANI): England has climbed to fourth place in FIFA's latest world rankings - equalling their highest placing - despite their poor run of form in recent competitive matches.
They have moved above Brazil and Argentina in the rankings, despite only reaching the last 16 in last year's World Cup in South Africa, and failing to win two of their last three qualifying matches for next year's European Championships.
The last time England were as high as fourth was in 1997, The Independent reports.
World Cup champions Spain holds the top spot with 1,871 points ahead of Netherlands (1,661) and Germany (1,417), while England tally 1,146 points.
Brazil (1,130), Italy (1,059), Portugal (1,046), Croatia (1,033), Mexico (1,007) and Argentina (979) complete the top 10.
India has dropped two spots to 147.
The next release of the rankings is scheduled for July 27. (ANI)
