Sarfaraz Shah murder trial case to be heard from Wednesday

Karachi, June 21 (ANI): An anti-terrorism court here will begin hearings of the Sarfraz Shah murder case from Wednesday.

According to the Daily Times, a case has been registered against the Sindh unit of the Pakistan Rangers with the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) No 1.

It maybe recalled that Shah was shot at point blank range by personnel of the Pakistan Rangers in a public park. The rangers claim he had terrorist links and are projecting his death as an encounter.

The defense on the other hand is projecting Shah's death as an extra-judicial killing.

Although there is no ground for the case to be tried as a jail trial at the judicial complex of central prison Karachi, rumours abound that either Interior Minister Rehman Malik will request for it or Rangers directly will move such an application.

Special Public Prosecutor General (SPPG) Arshad Iqbal Cheema had submitted the challan of the case before the Administrative Judge of ATC Karachi. Justice Maqbool Baqir of the Sindh High Court approved the challan on Saturday and ordered the case to be sent to the Anti-Terrorism Court No 1 for trial.

Shah's murder case challan will be served on Tuesday. The court will

issue the production orders of accused Rangers personnel before ATC No
