Karachi, June 21 (ANI): Pakistan is observing the 58th birth anniversary of former prime minister Benazir Bhutto today.
According to the Daily Times, the main ceremony will be organised at Naudero, where Bhutto, who was assassinated on December 27, 2007, is buried.
A 'Quran Khawani' would be held on the occasion. Blood donation camps would also be organised.
Birthday functions would also be organised at the district level.
Ahead of the birth anniversary celebrations, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah paid rich tribute to Bhutto.
In a statement issued here on Monday, Shah said that Bhutto devoted her entire life for the realisation of the rights of the people, restoration of democracy in the country, betterment of the people and progress and development of Pakistan.
He further said that Bhutto always remained committed to the welfare of the poor and added that the Bhutto family had also rendered sacrifices for the common good.
He said that Bhutto's husband, President Asif Ali Zardari, and Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani were carrying forward her pro-poor mission.
Sindh Electric Power Minister Shazia Marri also paid rich tribute to Bhutto. She said Bhutto was a towering personality of international stature and was committed to serve the people of the country especially the poor, deprived and under-privileged.
Sindh Women Development Minister Taqueer Fatima Bhutto described Benazir Bhutto as a great personality who devoted her life to the cause of democracy and for the betterment of the people and the country.
She said that a bright and strong Pakistan was the dream of Benazir Bhutto and that concerted efforts should be undertaken to meet this
