Pak Punjab Police fails to access slain journalist Shahzad's e-mail
Islamabad, June 21 (ANI): Police of Pakistan's Punjab province have told the country's Supreme Court that they have failed to get access to the email account of slain senior journalist Syed Saleem Shahzad.
ccording to the Daily Times, the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Punjab has submitted this point in his interim investigation report on the abduction and subsequent murder of Shahzad.
The report said that three different experts had been consulted but they had not been able to access the e-mail account that could had been an invaluable source into the deceased's contact list.
The report also revealed that besides the interviews of friends and family and professional associates, hectic efforts had to be made to get the call data records (CDR) of Shahzad.
The report said that 24 numbers had yet to be identified from which either calls had been frequently made or received during the month of May, but added that no specific information could be culled that might provide any lead about the perpetrators until now.
Shahzad, the bureau chief of Asia Times Online, was abducted on May 29 nd his tortured body was retrieved from a canal in Mandi Bahauddin the next day. (ANI)
