Delhi JD-U pulls up Jal Board over water price increase in Dwarka DDA flats

New Delhi , Sun, 19 Jun 2011 ANI

New Delhi, June 19 (ANI): Janata Dal-United (JD-U) Delhi unit General Secretary and spokesperson Prabhat Ranjan has criticized the Delhi Jal Board for increasing the price of water at Rs.3 per unit in the DDA flats in Dwarka.

Expressing his anger over the issue, Ranjan said the Delhi Jal Board is providing polluted water in several areas of East Delhi.

Citing the example of Vasant Vihar and Malviya Nagar, Ranjan said the Janata Dal-United will in no ways accept the privatization of water.

"The Delhi Government wants to leave the people of these areas dependent on private suppliers for drinking water. The private water suppliers will act in a similar manner as the oil and diesel companies, who always cry for losses," he added.

He appealed Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit to ask the Jal Board to make it clear that water is supplied in areas surrounding Dwarka without any flaw, and that fresh water is available in the Harsh Vihar, Trilokpuri and Mandavali areas of East Delhi. (ANI)
