Schwarzenegger's popularity plummets following maid sex-scandal expose

Los Angeles, June 18(ANI): Three out of four Californians have a negative image of former Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger in the wake of the revelation that he fathered a love child with his housemaid, a new survey has found.

According to Field Poll, Schwarzenegger is now seen negatively by 75 percent of Californian voters and has the approval of just 20 percent. Five percent voters had no opinion.

His ratings are worst in Los Angeles, where 90 percent of respondents gave him a thumbs down.

Schwarzenegger's approval rating had reached 63 percent in March 2007.

"The thing that's striking to me is that when Schwarzenegger first came onto the political scene, there was this enthusiasm for him," The Los Angeles Times quoted Field Poll Director Mark DiCamillo, as saying.

"He was going to be a politician who really appealed to independent voters and who would reach across party lines," he added.

The telephone survey of 950 voters was taken from June 3 to 13, and has a margin of error of plus or minus 4.6 percentage points. (ANI)
