New Delhi, June 18 (ANI): Chief of Army Staff, General VK Singh, will visit Bangladesh from June 19 to 23 to expand the defence ties between the two countries.
During his visit, General Singh is scheduled to call on President Mohammed Zillur Rahman, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and the three Service Chiefs.
He will also review the passing-out parade of the 64th Long Course and the 35th Special Course of the Bangladesh Military Academy on June 22. This marks the first time that an Indian dignitary would be reviewing a Passing Out Parade in Bangladesh.
The visit assumes special significance in the light of the need to improve military cooperation between the two countries, which would be mutually beneficial to the strategic interests of both the nations.
The successful culmination of visit of Sheikh Hasina in January 2010 and Bangladesh Chief of Army Staff in March 2010 to India has also contributed significantly to the consolidation of the existing ties and given a further boost to the cordial relations between both the nations. (ANI)
