Islamabad/Mardan, June 13(ANI): The Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-F (JUI-F) and the Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) have separately warned against the proposed military operation in Pakistan's militant-infested North Waziristan region.
"The army will launch a suicide attack on itself if it launches the operation," The Express Tribune quoted JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman, as telling the media after a meeting of his party's Central Executive Committee (CEC).
He called for a review of Pakistan's foreign policy and the policy on war against terrorism, adding that the government would be responsible for "bloodshed and lawlessness" in the country if it did not review these policies.
Meanwhile, addressing a big public meeting held in Mardan city, Jamaat-i-Islami chief Syed Munawar Hasan said that his party would strongly resist the proposed military operation in North Waziristan Agency.
If launched, the military action in the tribal region would bring huge destruction across the country, he added.
Hasan asked the country's civil and military leadership to stop taking dictation from the United States, and instead take independent decisions.
"The government must implement the resolution of the parliament to find a permanent solution to the menace of terrorism," the Dawn quoted the JI chief, as saying.
He stressed upon the government to adopt the politics of dialogue, saying that disputes and problems could not be solved by force or through military operations. (ANI)
