Thiruvananthapuram, Sept 27 (ANI): Defence Minister A.K. Antony has confirmed the permanent commissioning of women in the defence forces.
He was addressing the media in Thiruvananthapuram today.
Antony said that he approved the proposal of permanent commissioning of women in branches and cadres of all three services at non-combat level including the Army Education Corps, Judge Advocate General and Accounts streams on Friday.
"Before coming to Kerala on Friday evening I cleared the file. It's the beginning, there would be more improvement. For the first time our armed forces are inducing permanent commissioning for women. It's a great leap forward. Now one by one we will make more improvements," said Antony.
The Defence Minister also assured that the glitches in the sixth pay commission would be rectified and the Central Government would consider the grudges of the army personnel about the pay commission.There are some issues they have raised. This pay commission gives a lot of benefits but there are some issues, some anomalies are there. Government is aware of that they are trying to find an amicable solution for that," said Antony.
The Indian Defence forces comprising the Army, the Navy and the Air Force form one of the biggest forces of the world.
But the Defence personnel have always expressed discontentment about their salaries, as they fall under the category of one of the lowest paid services. (ANI)
