Lahore, June 7(ANI): The mobile phone record of slain Pakistani journalist Syed Saleem Shahzad has been mysteriously erased.
Pakistani investigative reporter Shahzad's body- bearing signs of torture- was found from a canal in Mandi Bahauddin on May 31, two days after he was abducted in Islamabad.
The network log of the 18 days- leading up to Shahzad's abduction and murder- have been wiped clean from the system, The Express Tribune reports.
According to the data obtained by the paper, the "last" call made by Shahzad was back on May 12.
Hamza Ameer, the brother-in-law of Shahzad, found the journalist's mobile phone switched off, when he tried to contact him at 5:42 pm on May 29.
According to the obtained data, Shahzad made his "last" call on May 12 near a cell phone tower installed atop a bank in Blue Area, Plot No.94, Deen Pewalian in Islamabad.
Shahzad was in Islamabad between May 1 and 8:27 pm on May 12, according to the cellular data.
The "second last" call received by Shahzad was made by his wife and it lasted slightly over a minute (the call was made between 12:16:05 and 12:17:19).
The case is starting to look a lot like that of Umer Cheema, another journalist who was kidnapped and tortured recently, and whose cell phone data was also deleted from the system in a similar manner. (ANI)
